Lobbying Tips & Training

Lobbying is simply an effort to win the support of legislators or other public officials for a position on a piece of specific legislation or a specific legislative proposal. Lobbying can be done by registered lobbyists, but personal lobby visits by people just like you are the most persuasive tool for affecting issues in the legislature.

Being prepared is the most important factor in successful lobbying. Here you will find information to educate you on the legislative process and basic etiquette when speaking with elected officials. You can use these tools for any contact with your legislators or public officials, including traveling to the Capitol on PROMO Equality Day every year.
