An Internship That Makes A Lasting Impact

I have been with PROMO for a little over four years. For the past two years, I have served as an organizer, improving community education on issues continuing to impact the LGBT community, organizing legislative actions, rallies, and lobby days surrounding proposed policies, addressing nondiscrimination protections in local municipalities, and increasing intersectionality awareness throughout the region.

In the two years before becoming an organizer, I had the opportunity to hold not one, not two, but three internships with PROMO. Interning with PROMO helped me hone so many skills that I continue to use in both the professional and academic fields today. Not only did I get to lead volunteer recruitment for electoral campaigns, plan our summer Celebrity Pie Toss, and support the digital Equality Day, but I also developed time management skills and confidence as a leader. And I got to make lifelong friends in the process by working with other interns, volunteers, community members, and an incredibly supportive staff. You get to see your work have a direct impact on the lives of thousands of LGBT Missourians each and every day.

Today, I am happy to announce the revamping of our internship and practicum program. We have a variety of opportunities for individuals who have a passion for LGBT equality, including the legislative and electoral process, research and public policy, communications and development, as well as supporting our SAGE of PROMO Fund programming efforts. And we certainly hope that you will consider joining our team!
