On July 13, the US House of Representatives voted down a harmful amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). It was a a close call at a 214-209 vote.
The amendment was set to deny medically necessary healthcare to the the 15,500 trans people currently serving in the military. That’s right, amendment sponsor, Missouri’s own Rep. Vicky Hartzler (Dist 4), believes that not all servicemembers risking their their lives to defend our country deserve necessary healthcare.
We are thankful that most 214 Missouri House of Representatives do NOT agree with Hartzler. For more on this victory check out this article from Buzzfeed.
