October is National LGBT History Month. LGBT History Month was first celebrated in 1994 and was founded by a Missouri history teacher Rodney Wilson. In the past, PROMO has highlighted people in Missouri throughout the month that have made an impact on LGBT history in this state.
This year we are mixing it up. This past year, PROMO has been celebrating its 30th year advocating for LGBT rights in this state. Because of this historical year, we will be highlighting LGBT events from the last 30 years. Stay tuned as we share with you some historical events that brought us where we are today.
In the meantime check out this timeline that we made years ago. Lastly, help us make the words “fired for being LGBT” history in our state.
