On October 28, 2014, Southeast Missouri State University’s Board of Regents unanimously approved extending benefits to same-sex spouses of university employees of legally married couples.
This decision was made based on the Barrier v. Vasterling decision that came from a Jackson County Judge on October 3. The ruling stated that ALL legally married Missourians must be recognized in the state of Missouri. This decision has brought a lot of victories across the state of Missouri.
