Hello Senator,

My name is (xx) and I am a Missourian (or constituent if in their district) concerned about Senate Bill 42 (sponsored by Sen. Brattin) and would like to express my opposition to banning discussing the motivation of groups of people and political structures involved in historical events AND banning we transgender youth from the opportunity to play the sports they love alongside their peers.

We know that all youth, especially transgender youth deserve the opportunity to play the sports they love and experience the valuable lessons of being on a team with their peers — teamwork, discipline, success, and failure. Excluding transgender children from normal school activities fuels a culture of bias that puts kids in danger, and failing to support transgender student athletes only perpetuates a culture of bias. Additionally, This bill robs young people and students of an inclusive education and educational environment. All students deserve to see themselves represented in the curriculum they use.

Transgender women are women. By excluding trans women from sports, you are indicating that trans women are a hypothetical threat, and ignoring the current documented harm against transgender women. And this has real impacts on the lives of human beings.

Thank you for your time.

Hey! A harmful bill is scheduled for a hearing in the Missouri Senate (SB 42) that aims to do three things: ban inclusive, diverse, and comprehensive curriculum in public schools, rob young people and students of an inclusive education and educational environment, and ban transgender girls and women from participating in team sports. Could you take 2 minutes to call the Senate committee members and explain why this bill is harmful to LGBTQ+ Missourians?

You can find out how to do so here: https://secure.everyaction.com/nI4Xao1mAUa5ow3oaA6ewg2

Hey [Name],

Did you know a harmful bill for LGBTQ+ Missourians is scheduled for a hearing in the Missouri Senate? This legislation, SB 42, aims to do three things:

  1. Ban inclusive, diverse, and comprehensive curriculum in public schools
  2. Rob young people and students of an inclusive education and educational environment
  3. Ban transgender girls and women from participating in team sports

We know that teaching accurate representations of history does not seek to cause or spread conflict or pit one group against another. Instead, teaching accurate history examines aspects of our nation’s history that may have reflected racist, sexist, and oppressive ideology that has become embedded in our culture. We also know that transgender youth deserve the opportunity to play the sports they love and experience the valuable lessons of being on a team such as teamwork, discipline, success, and failure. Excluding transgender children from normal school activities fuels a culture of bias that puts kids in danger, and failing to support transgender student athletes only perpetuates a culture of bias.

Could you take two minutes to call the Senate committee members and let them know why this legislation is harmful to LGBTQ+ Missourians? You can find their numbers, emails, and a script you can follow here: https://secure.everyaction.com/nI4Xao1mAUa5ow3oaA6ewg2.

Thank you for using your voice to support equality!

Sincerely,
