Missouri Is Not Kansas

We are seeing anti-LGBT policies and laws implemented in states that are all too close to home. As you may already know, Kansas shamefully removed employment protections for their LGBT state workers, Arkansas passed a bill that prevents cities from enacting their own laws to protect LGBT people from discrimination, and West Virginia just passed a similar bill out of committee that would take local control away from cities. Missouri is no exception. Just in the past two months, we have seen five bills pop up that threaten the quality of life for LGBT Missourians.

There are bills in both chambers that will allow college student organizations to discriminate against LGBT students based on their “sincerely held religious beliefs” while maintaining funding from their University. Another bill will limit a second parent’s ability to file for custody of their child if they are not the biological parent, and just this week a senator introduced a bill that would make it ILLEGAL for state and city workers to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples even after three judges have ruled on the right side of history.

→Can you chip in $10 to help us lobby against these bills in Jefferson City?

Thankfully, we at PROMO have built strong relationships with legislators on both sides of the aisle to help us fight these attacks. We are not Kansas. We are not Arkansas. We are Missouri and we will not stand for the anti-LGBT policies that our neighbors are passing.

Your donation will go to ensuring that PROMO maintains a loud and strategic voice at the Capitol each and every week. It only takes the blink of an eye for one of these bills to become a damaging law. Gifts, from supporters like you, go a long way.

Thank you for your continued encouragement and activism.
