PROMO has an active presence lobbying at the Capitol. Lobbying is simply an effort to win the support of legislators or other public officials for a position on a piece of specific legislation or a specific legislative proposal.
Our goal is to talk to legislators about issues that LGBTQ Missourians face.
Keep updated on the bills PROMO is tracking this legislative session powered by FastDemocracy.com:
How can you get involved? Personal lobby visits by people just like you are the most persuasive tool for affecting issues in the legislature. That is why we ask you to join us at our annual lobby day, Equality Day, at the Capitol. Our 2020 Equality Day date is April 28. Stay tuned for information forth coming on how to participate in 2020 Equality Days!
Because of our presence at the Capitol, PROMO has helped kill over 38 blatantly anti-LGBTQ bills in the past four years. Missouri Nondiscrimination Act is a positive pro-LGBTQ bill that PROMO supports.
Steve McLuckie introduced the Missouri Nondiscrimination Act (MONA) for the first time in 1998.
MONA would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in the workplace. MONA would simply extend the existing Missouri Human Rights Statute to include LGBTQ people.
