PROMO has an active presence lobbying at the Capitol. Lobbying is simply an effort to win the support of legislators or other public officials for a position on a piece of specific legislation or a specific legislative proposal.
Our goal is to talk to legislators about issues that LGBTQ Missourians face.
Keep updated on the bills PROMO is tracking this legislative session powered by FastDemocracy.com:
Because of our presence at the Capitol, PROMO has helped kill over 78 blatantly anti-LGBTQ bills in the past five years. For the past 23 years, PROMO in partnership with LGBTQ equality champions in the Missouri Legislature have filed the Missouri Nondiscrimination Act (MONA) to protect LGBTQ Missourians statewide.
Steve McLuckie introduced the Missouri Nondiscrimination Act (MONA) for the first time in 1998.
MONA would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in the workplace. MONA would simply extend the existing Missouri Human Rights Statute to include LGBTQ people.
There are over 1,000 businesses that support MONA. Check out this list. If your business is interested in being included in this list please email promo@promoonline.org.
