Missouri is so far the only state that does not recognize marriages of same-sex couples to still grant couples the ability to file jointly as married. Colorado and Oregon have also issued similar instructions; however, Colorado has state civil unions and Oregon recognizes out-of-state marriages of same-sex couples.
“We applaud the governor for giving clarity to same-sex couples and providing guidance on how we complete tax return information in the state of Missouri,” concluded A.J. Bockelman, Executive Director of PROMO.
